DHAKA, March 30, 2026 (BSS) – Disaster Management and Relief Minister Asadul Habib Dulu today said climate change is no longer a future concern but an inevitable reality for the world.

“We are living in a time when climate change is no longer a future threat but it is an unavoidable reality. Cyclones, floods, droughts and river erosion have now become integral parts of our lives,” he said.

The minister made the remarks while speaking as the chief guest at a programme titled “Met Club: The Next Wave,” organized by Save the Children at a hotel in the capital in the morning.

“Children are the worst victims of such disasters. They are the future, dreams and potential of the nation. During disasters, children become the most vulnerable,” he said urging all to protect them and make them aware, skilled and prepare for the future threats.

The Meteorological Club (Met Club) is a school-based, child-led initiative aimed at building awareness and capacity among children on weather, climate change, natural hazards and disaster preparedness.

Through the initiative, children will learn weather observation, risk identification, understanding early warning systems and making informed decisions during disasters.

The minister later inaugurated the club’s e-learning portal and unveiled related publications, according to a ministry press release.
