
DHAKA, March 30, 2026 (BSS) – The second meeting of the parliamentary committee of the 13th Jatiya Sangsad was held with committee chairman and chief whip M Nurul Islam in the chair.
Committee members Rakibul Islam, Mia Nuruddin Ahamed Apu, Mohammad Kaiser Ahmed, M Shahidul Islam, Nayab Yusuf Ahmed, SM Jahangir Hossain, M Oli Ullah, M Saiful Alam and M Abul Hasnat participated in the meeting held at the JS Bhaban here.
Progress of the renovation and repair works related to civil, E/M and wood factory department for allotment of residences for the parliament members located at Manik Mia Avenue and Nakhalpara, renovation, repair and allotment of 156 office rooms at the MP hostels at Sher-e Bangla Nagar, posting or attachment of adequate specialized doctors and medical officers at the parliament medical center aiming to ensure medical services for the members of parliament in emergency were discussed in the meeting.
Strengthening 24-hours security arrangements at the flats of MPs located at Manik Mia Avenue and Nakhalpara and posting of required manpower at the lawmakers’ residences at Manik Mia Avenue and Nakhalpara in line with the previous parliamentary tradition were also discussed during the meeting, according to a parliament secretariat release here today.
Two sub-committees were formed to identify the sound system problem of the parliament session room along with verifying the food quality of the parliament Bhaban canteen, water quality of the parliament building supply line and furniture quality of the parliament building by making Rakibul Islam and Nayab Yusuf Ahmed as conveners.
The meeting also gave directives to integrity in purchasing necessary furniture.
The concerned authorities have been asked to be alert in ensuring the quality of the furniture and at the same time keeping the furniture purchasing price rational during the public procurement.
The committee also asked to expedite the works aiming to give allotment of the residences for the members of parliament by April 10.
Additional secretary of the parliament secretariat, chief engineer of the public works department, sergeant at arms, additional chief engineer, officials of the public works department and other concerned officials were also present at the meeting.
