Illegally hoard 2 lakh liters fuel seized nationwide

DHAKA, Marc 30, 2026 (BSS)- A nationwide drive against illegal fuel storage seized about 2,08,650 liters of fuel across the country from March 3 to 29, officials said on Monday.

It was told at a press conference organized by the Ministry of Power, Energy and Mineral Resources.

Joint Secretary and spokesperson of the ministry Monir Hossain Chowdhury said, authorities conducted a total of 3,168 drives during the period.

Highest share of the seized fuel is 1,39,965 liters of diesel while the amount of octane and petrol is 22,539 and 46,146 liters, he said.

Legal action has also been taken against offenders. A total of 1,053 cases have been filed so far, with 16 individuals given sentences and fined Taka 75,16,000. 

Officials stated that the drive will continue as part of the government’s ongoing efforts to ensure proper fuel management and prevent unauthorized stockpiling.
