DHAKA, March 30, 2026 (BSS) - The Teesta Battalion (61 BGB) has strengthened its operations along Hatibandha and Patgram borders in Lalmonirhat to curb fuel oil hoarding and smuggling amid the current global situation.

According to a press release, Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) has set up temporary check posts at key points in border areas and increased monitoring of filling stations and dealers suspected of extracting and illegally selling fuel oil.

Authorities are also conducting surprise searches of suspicious vehicles, alongside reinforcing regular mobile patrols and surveillance on major transport routes.

To dismantle potential smuggling networks, intelligence operations have been intensified to identify and track syndicates involved in illegal fuel trade.

In parallel, BGB is also organizing awareness meetings with local residents to highlight the negative impacts of fuel hoarding and smuggling, encouraging public cooperation in preventing such activities.

BGB officials reaffirmed their commitment to safeguarding the country’s energy security, stating that the force remains vigilant and will continue its efforts to stop illegal fuel-related activities along the border.
