IAU VC seeks teachers’ help to restore heritage of Madrasa education

DHAKA, Mar 30, 2026 (BSS)- Vice-Chancellor of the Islamic Arabic University (IAU) Prof Muhammad Abu Jafar Khan has called for the cooperation of teacher leaders to restore the lost heritage of madrasa education in the country.

“Madrasa education is an integrated system that ensures well-being in both worlds—this life and the hereafter. The role of this education in shaping students' character, morals, and culture is immense," he said.
He made these remarks at an views exchange meeting organized with the "Bangladesh Jamiyatul Mudarresin" at the university auditorium today.

The Vice-Chancellor emphasized the importance of teachers' sincerity and subject-based instruction to ensure the vibrant presence of students in madrasa classrooms.

“Teachers, students, and the university form one family. I need the advice and support of teacher leaders for constructive reform regarding academic syllabus, examination system, or any administrative matters,” he said.

Additionally, he called upon teachers to stand by the student who are financially disadvantaged.

At the event, teacher leaders led by the Secretary General of Bangladesh Jamiyatul Mudarresin  Shabbir Ahmad Momtazi greeted the newly appointed Vice-Chancellor with flowers and assured the university authorities of their full cooperation in improving the quality of madrasa education.

Pro-vice-chancellor Professor Dr. Mohammad Shahidul Islam, Treasurer A.S.M. Mamunur Rahman Khalili, Acting Registrar Fahad Ahmad Momtazi and principals from various madrasas were present.
