Govt wants to make police as a three-dimensional force: Home Minister

SANGSAD BHABAN, Mar 30, 2026 (BSS)- Home Minister Salahuddin Ahmed has said the government has attached special importance to attain the three-dimensional capability of Bangladesh Police to maintain law and order and thus ensure the safety of people's lives and property.

“For this, modern and technology-based training of police members, including the addition of helicopters to the organizational structure of the police, is continuing. In addition training institutions are being modernized and acquisition of modern vehicles, equipment in going on,” he said.

Replying to a starred question from ruling party MP from Noakhali-5 Mohammed Fakrul Islam in Parliament today, the Home Minister said the current democratic government has taken various timely steps to maintain law and order in the country and safety of people's lives and property.

The Minister said that Bangladesh Police is implementing the following measures to ensure public safety- 

a. The police are carrying out all kinds of activities to protect public safety while upholding human rights;
b. Various activities are continuing to ensure public safety by using scientific investigation processes and technology;
c. The activities of 'National Emergency Service 999' are going on to ensure public safety and facilitate access to police, ambulance and fire service.
