Shafiqur calls for running JS on 'insaf' to establish justice in country

SANGSAD BHABAN, March 29, 2026 (BSS) - Leader of the Opposition Shafiqur 
Rahman today stressed the need to run the Jatiya Sangsad (JS) on the basis of 
'insaf' (justice), expressing hope that establishing justice in parliament 
would pave the way for ensuring justice across the country.

Speaking in the House today, Shafiqur, also the Ameer of Bangladesh Jamaat-e-
Islami, formally congratulated the Deputy Speaker on his election and praised 
his commitment to neutrality and fairness in conducting parliamentary 
proceedings.

He said the people of Bangladesh expect the parliament to become the centre 
of all national activities and emphasized that the Deputy Speaker's chair is 
a very important position of justice and fairness.

The opposition leader welcomed the Deputy Speaker's pledge to act impartially 
and ensure that everyone receives what they deserve, saying such a commitment 
reflects the spirit of insaf that the nation expects from its parliament.

Shafiqur Rahman also assured full cooperation from the opposition in carrying 
out all reasonable and justified decisions during the Deputy Speaker's 
tenure.

He also said that as human beings, mistakes can occur, and if any such 
situation arises, the opposition would sincerely help in correcting them in a 
constructive manner.

The opposition leader expressed hope that if the parliament is conducted on 
the basis of justice and fairness, it would be possible to establish justice 
throughout the country.

He concluded by wishing the Deputy Speaker good health and a long life and 
once again extended his congratulations before ending his speech.
