SANGSAD BHABAN, April 23, 2026 (BSS) -Education Minister Dr. Ehsanul Hoque Milon today said in parliament that technical trade courses will be introduced in 1,000 madrasas across the country in phases.

He said this while replying to a starred tabled question placed by NCP lawmaker Md. Abul Hasnat from Cumilla-4 in the Jatiya Sangsad today.

The minister said the government has undertaken initiatives to modernize madrasa education and make it more time-befitting by incorporating profession-oriented and vocational subjects into the curriculum.

“Alongside religious studies, arrangements will be made to teach science, technology, information technology (IT), and English language in madrasas,” he said.

Milon added that a committee formed by the Technical and Madrasa Education Division has already started working on updating the madrasa curriculum.

In line with the government’s election manifesto, steps have been taken to ensure technical education for all, and technical trade courses will be introduced in every madrasa.

The minister further said opportunities for technical education have already been created for madrasa students alongside religious education.

Vocational courses have so far been introduced in 548 madrasas, and technical trade courses will be gradually expanded to another 1,000 madrasa institutions, he added.
