3 to die for violating housewife in Jamalpur

JAMALPUR, March 11, 2026 (BSS) - A court here today sentenced three men to death for raping a housewife in Sadar upazila in 2023.

The convicted persons are Md Faruk Hossain, 28, son of Azizul Haque of Pakulla Madhyapara village, Munsur, 31, son of Md Ali Akbar and Md Ferdous, 20, son of Shafiqul Islam, residents of Pakulla Bhangunighat village in Sadar upazila.

According to the prosecution, a housewife, 20, was returning home with her husband after visiting a house in Rashidpur area in Jamalpur Sadar Upazila on July 19, 2023 at 9:30 night. When the couple reached Pakulla Bhangunighat area the convicts who followed them earlier intercepted their motorcycle and tide up husband with a tree and dragged the house wife nearby solitary place and raped. 

Her husband some how untie his hands and seek police help on 999 hot line. Getting information police from Narayanpur Investigation Center rushed to the spot and rescued the housewife.

Following a case police submitted charge sheet against them.

Judge of Woman And Child Repression Prevention Tribunal -1 Muhammad Abdur Rahim after examining five prosecution witnesses , medical report and other relevant documents found them guilty and delivered the verdict.

The court also fined them Taka one lakh each under section 9 of 2000 in their absentia.

The court also convicted them under section 7 of 2000 and sentenced them Rigorous Imprisonment (RI) for life and fined Taka 20 thousand each.
