
DHAKA, Feb 11, 2026 (BSS) - Home Adviser Lieutenant General (Retd.) Md. Jahangir Alam Chowdhury today visited the Central Control Room at Police Headquarters (PHQ) to review law enforcement preparedness ahead of tomorrow’s general elections and referendum-2026, according to a press release.
During the visit, he inquired about the overall security arrangements, real-time monitoring systems, communication mechanisms, and emergency response measures in place across the country.
Officials briefed him on the control room’s operations and the steps taken to maintain law and order during the election period.
On the same day, the adviser also visited New Market and Mohammadpur police stations in the capital to assess field-level preparedness.
He spoke with officers on duty and directed them to remain vigilant, impartial, and professional while carrying out their election responsibilities.
Emphasizing the importance of ensuring a free, fair, and peaceful election, he instructed law enforcement agencies to take all necessary measures to guarantee public safety and allow voters to exercise their franchise without fear or disruption.
Police officials informed him that special security plans have been put in place and that the force is fully prepared to handle any untoward situation.
