Ex-BFIU chief Masud Biswas to be interrogated at jail gate

DHAKA, Jan 26, 2025 (BSS) - A court here today ordered the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) to interrogate former chief of Bangladesh Financial Intelligence Unit (BFIU) Masud Biswas at the jail gate for one day.

Dhaka Metropolitan Senior Special Judge Md Zakir Hossain Galib passed the order after holding hearing on a plea of the ACC to place Biswas on a seven-day remand.

A team of ACC, led by its Deputy Director (DD) Gulshan Anwar, detained Masud Biswas from the city's Mirpur area on January 17.

He was produced before the court of Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate the next day and the court sent him to jail. The ACC on January 19 filed its plea to allow them to take Masud Biswas on a seven-day remand. 

The court had set today to hold hearing on the matter.

Masud Biswas, an executive director (ED) of Bangladesh Bank, was the head of the BFIU for a long time and terminated from the service after August 5.

The ACC on January 2 filed a case against Masud Biswas for amassing illegal wealth of Taka 1.87 crore.
