JDS Alumni Association gets new committee

DHAKA, Jan 26, 2025 (BSS) – JDS Alumni Association, an organization of scholars who studied in Japan with scholarships, formed a new committee for the next two years (2025-2026).

Additional Secretary of the Economic Relations Division Mohammad Hasan Arif will act as president while and Joint Secretary of the Finance Division Dr. Nazmus Sayadat as secretary general.

The decision was taken at the annual general meeting of the association held at a hotel in the capital on Saturday, said a press release today. 

Japanese Ambassador to Bangladesh SAIDA Shinichi, Planning Division Secretary Iqbal Abdullah Harun, JICA Chief Representative in Bangladesh ICHIGUCHI Tomohide, ERD Additional Secretary Mohammad Hasan Arif and Joint Secretary Dr. Nazmus Sayadat, among others, spoke at the event.

Speakers at the function urged the JDS fellows to act as "game changers" in advancing ties between Bangladesh and Japan. The JDS scholars were asked to make appropriate use of the education and expertise they had received in Japan in order to strengthen economic ties and collaboration between the two nations and boost economic activities. 

The event highlighted the important contributions of JDS fellows in various sectors to the development of Bangladesh. 

Prizes were distributed among the winners of the ‘Slogan Writing’ competition organized on Japan-Bangladesh relations.
