Govt to procure fertilizer, diesel

DHAKA, Jan 28, 2025 (BSS) - The government today approved separate proposals for procuring fertilizer and diesel to address domestic demands and stabilize markets.

The approvals came from the 5th meeting of the Advisers Council Committee on Government Purchase (ACCGP) held here at the Cabinet Division conference room at Bangladesh Secretariat.

Adviser to the Ministry of Finance Dr Salehuddin Ahmed chaired the meeting.

Following a proposal from the Ministry of Agriculture, the Bangladesh Agricultural Development Corporation (BADC) would procure 30,000 metric tons (MTs) of TSP fertilizer under state-level agreement from OCP NUTRICROPS, Morocco with around Taka 161.04 crore where per ton fertilizer would cost $440.

In response to a proposal from the Energy and Mineral Resources Division, Bangladesh Petroleum Corporation (BPC) will import 130,000 MTs of diesel from India.

Indian Numaligarh Refinery Limited will supply the bulk diesel at a cost of Tk 1,137.96 crore.
