Noted journalist Nizam Uddin Ahmed passes away

DHAKA, Jan 29, 2025 (BSS) - Business Editor of Daily Observer and member of the Jatiya Press Club (JPC) veteran freedom fighter Nizam Uddin Ahmed died at a city hospital here this morning.

He was 72.

He was survived by his wife, two sons, daughter-in-law, grandchildren, and a host of relatives to mourn his death, said his family sources here today.

Noted journalist Nizam Uddin began his journalistic career in Chattogram during the 80's decade. He was a bureau chief of the Daily New Nation in Chattogram.

He was also the former general secretary of Chattogram Press Club and former GS of Chattogram Journalist's Housing Society.

He had served long at the Dhaka Bureau office of the world's largest news agency Reuters. 

Following a Namaj-e-Janaza, he will be buried after the Asr prayer at his family graveyard at Adhunagar village under the Lohagora upazila of Chattogram. 

JPC President Poet Hasan Hafiz, general secretary Aiyub Bhuiyan, Chattogram Journalist Forum Dhaka (CJFD)'s president Mujib Masud, vice-president Kashem Mahmud, general secretary Moazzem Hossen Rokon expressed profound shock at the death of noted Journalist Nizam Uddin Ahmed.
