4.91 lakh children to be fed Vitamin A capsule in Rangpur

RANGPUR, Mar 13, 2025 (BSS) - At least 4,91,000 children aged 6-59 months will be fed Vitamin A plus capsule across the district here on March 15, as a part of the national medical campaign.

Among them, 58,922 children aged 6-11 months will be fed blue color Vitamin A plus capsule and 4,32,078 children aged 12-59 months will be fed red color Vitamin A plus capsule, according to District Civil Surgeon Office.

Children will receive the medical aids at 2,129 centers in Rangpur City Corporation, three municipalities and all eight upazilas of the district. 
 
Of them, 1,33,500 children will be fed Vitamin A plus capsules at 297 centers in 33 wards under Rangpur City Corporation and 3,57,500 children will be fed Vitamin A plus capsules at 1,832 centers at the municipalities and upazilas. 
 
The campaign will begin at 8:00am and end at 4:00pm on Saturday. 

The Rangpur City Corporation authorities and the District Civil Surgeon Office held to separate press conferences outlining the plans for the 'National Vitamin A Plus Campaign-2025'. 
 
Rangpur City Corporation Chief Executive Officer Ummey Fatima said 19,500 children aged six to 11 months will be administered blue color Vitamin A plus capsules and 114,000 children aged 12 to 59 months will be fed red color Vitamin A plus capsules in the city corporation area.

She noted that some 666 volunteers are prepared to work at 297 centers in 33 wards of the city.

A child having the Vitamin A plus capsule within last four months will not require to take the capsule, she said.
 
"To make this campaign successful, 3,664 volunteers, 456 health workers and 228 supervisors will be assigned at 1,832 centers in three municipalities and eight upazilas," said Civil Surgeon Dr Shahina Sultana.
