Met office forecasts light to moderate rain over the country

DHAKA, May 21, 2025 (BSS) - Bangladesh Meteorological Department (BMD) today forecasted that light to moderate rain or thunder showers and temporary gusty wind are likely to occur in different parts across the country for the next 24 hours beginning this morning.

"Light to moderate rain/thunder showers with lightning flashes and temporary gusty wind are likely to occur at many places in Rangpur and Mymensingh divisions and at a few places in Dhaka and Sylhet divisions and at one or two places in Rajshahi, Khulna, Barishal and Chattogram divisions with moderately heavy to heavy falls at places in Rangpur, Mymensingh and Sylhet divisions", the forecast added.

Day temperatures may rise slightly, while night temperatures are expected to remain nearly unchanged over the country, the Met office added.

According to the BMD, Tuesday's highest temperature was 37.0 degrees Celsius in Jashore, and today's lowest temperature was 22.0 degrees Celsius, recorded jointly in Bandarban and Rangpur. The highest rainfall in the past 24 hours until 6am today was recorded at 194mm in Sylhet.

The sun will set in Dhaka at 6:37 pm today and rise at 5:13 am tomorrow.
