BRUR VC favours OBE curriculum for current and future students

RANGPUR, May 21, 2025 (BSS) - Begum Rokeya University (BRUR) Vice-chancellor Professor Dr Md Showkat Ali has advocated the introduction of the Outcome Based Education (OBE) curriculum at the university level to keep pace with current and future students. 

"Outcome Based Education is a systematic trend. Through this, quality teaching, creation of new knowledge, practical skills, analytical ability and prudence can be ensured for the students," he said.
 
He observed while virtually addressing the inaugural session of a two-day workshop titled 'Outcome-Based Education: A Pathway to Accreditation' organized by the Institutional Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC) of the university on Wednesday as the chief guest. 

The workshop was held in the virtual classroom of Academic Building-2 of the university with IQAC Director Professor Dr Md Tajul Islam in the chair.

As a resource person, Professor Dr ABM Rahamatullah of the Department of Economics of American International University, Bangladesh, highlighted the background, goals, objectives and prospects of Outcome Based Education.

Vice-chancellor said that the importance of contemporary education is increasing with time. 

"If introduced, Outcome Based Education will play a strong role in strengthening the education system of Bangladesh and improving the quality of education," he said. 

IQAC Additional Directors Dr Md Abdul Latif and Dr Md Abdur Rakib attended the event. 

Teachers from various departments of the university participated in the first day of the two-day workshop.
