KU VC distributes Tk 2.5 crore for research purposes

KHULNA, May 22, 2025 (BSS) – Khulna University (KU) Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr Md Rezaul Karim here today distributed a total of Tk 2.5 crore among teachers for carrying out 40 research projects of the university.

Under the revenue/development budget of the 2024–25 fiscal year, the KU has distributed the third phase of allocated funds for the research projects.

Organised by the Centre for Research and Innovation, the cheques amounting to a total of Tk 2.5 crore were handed over to researchers at the conference room of the Central Library.

Speaking as the chief guest, the VC said that both the quantity and quality of research of the university have been increasing every year.

 “The allocation for research is also steadily rising, which is a sign of positive progress. Every discipline now has ample research opportunities,” he added.

He also mentioned that many of the university’s research projects are of international standards, and showcasing them will enhance the university's reputation further.

Highlighting the growing interest among faculty members in multidisciplinary and collaborative research, he said that such initiatives are timely and encouraging. He announced that separate funding would soon be allocated for such research endeavours.

The VC also urged researchers to make more effective use of the advanced equipment at the central laboratory to further improve the quality of research.

Pro-Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr. Md. Harunur Rashid Khan and Treasurer Professor Dr. Md. Nurunnabi addressed the event as special guests. The Director of the Centre for Research and Innovation, Professor Dr. Mohammad Kazi Didarul Islam delivered the welcome speech.

Among the grant recipients, Professor Dr. Sardar Firoz Ahmed from the Mathematics Discipline and Lecturer Nishana Afrin Nishu from the Sociology Discipline made brief remarks at the event.

Deans of various schools, heads of disciplines, faculty members, and researchers who received the grants, among others, attended the event.
