RU changes names of its 12 installations

RAJSHAHI, May 23, 2025 (BSS) - Rajshahi University (RU) authority has changed names of its 12 installations, including the building of administration , here on Thursday. 

The decision was taken in the meeting of the 539th syndicate, the highest policy-making body of the public university, with Vice-chancellor Prof Saleh Hassan Naquib in the chair. 

According to the decision, from now on, 'Syed Nazrul Islam Administrative Building' and 'Shaheed Monsur Ali Administrative Building' will be called 'Proshason Bhaban-1' and 'Proshason Bhaban-2' respectively.
'Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman Hall' and 'Sheikh Fazilatunnessa Mujib Hall' were replaced with 'Bijoy-24' and 'July 36' respectively.

'Shaheed Tajuddin Ahmed Senate Building' has been changed to 'Senate Building', while 'Sheikh Kamal Stadium' to 'Rajshahi University Stadium'.
 
Apart from this, 'Dr Kudrat-E-Khuda Academic Building', 'Dr MA Wazed Mian Academic Building'' and 'Agriculture Faculty Building' will be identified as 'Ibne Haiyan Bhaban, 'Jamal Nazrul Bhaban' and 'Agriculture Bhaban' respectively.

Additionally, the name of 'Sheikh Russel Model School' has been changed to 'Rajshahi University Model School'.

Kazla Gate and Binodpur Gate, two main entrances of the university, have got new names as 'Shaheed Saqib Anjum Gate' and 'Saheed Ali Raihan Gate'. 

Vice-chancellor Prof Saleh Hassan Naquib told BSS that the new names were finalised based on the decision of the syndicate committee.
