DHAKA, Sept 9, 2025 (BSS) - A mobile court operation was conducted by the Energy and Mineral Resources Division on Monday in Konda and Baliyarpur areas of Savar to dismantle illegal gas distribution lines and disconnect unauthorised connections.

Led by an executive magistrate, the operation was carried out at five separate locations, resulting in the removal of nearly half a kilometre of illegal pipeline, according to a press release issued by PID today.

Illegal gas connections of four commercial establishments --Riyad Enterprise, an unnamed mosquito coil factory, Sharif Chemical Works, and NMR Enterprise-- were disconnected during the drive.

Additionally, one unauthorized residential connection and three meterless residential connections were also severed.

The illegal connections were reportedly responsible for an estimated monthly gas theft amounting to Tk 366,472, which was prevented through the operation.

Fines totaling Tk 1.90 lakh were imposed in two separate cases during the drive.
