GAZIPUR, Sept 15, 2025 (BSS) - A day-long tree plantation programme was held at Gazipur Agricultural University (GAU) today, as a part of the university's 50-year master plan to develop an eco-friendly and sustainable campus.

Inaugurating the programme, GAU Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. GKM Mostafizur Rahman planted saplings of high quality fruit trees across six residential halls.

Prof Mostafiz said the world is currently witnessing the harsh reality of climate change. The destruction of forests, increased carbon emissions and the disruption of natural balance have put the planet's biodiversity at risk.

He stressed that tree plantation is not merely an aesthetic endeavor but a symbol of life and a powerful tool for protecting the environment.
