RAJSHAHI, Jan 26, 2026 (BSS)- A five-day training workshop for newly-
appointed teachers at Rajshahi University (RU) began at its campus here
today.

Vice-Chancellor (VC) Professor Saleh Hasan Naqib inaugurated the workshop at
Institutional Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC) conference room of the Syed
Ismail Hossain Siraji Building as the chief guest with IQAC Director Prof Abu
Reza in the chair.

The main objective of this workshop is learning from one another.
Pro-VCs Prof Mohammad Main Uddin and Prof Farid Uddin Khan and Proctor Prof
Mahbubur Rahman also spoke.

The training workshop, organised by IQAC, covers a wide range of topics,
including the roles and responsibilities of newly-appointed teachers,
research methodology and ethical standards, professional integrity and codes
of conduct.

Teacher-student relationships and knowledge creation, introducing modernity
and creativity into academic curricula, teaching methods, avoiding bias
toward students and evaluation of answer scripts are also- salient features
of the workshop.

The VC said: "We do not only want to teach but also want to learn. Every
session here is very engaging, so the newly appointed teachers will benefit
greatly. I am hopeful that such training workshops will play a positive role
in helping teachers become more student-friendly."

"Teaching is a profession where one must keep learning throughout life. If
you do not know something yourself, how will you teach students? A teacher
should have a high sense of self-respect, which develops through awareness of
one's own competence. You have come here by proving your merit through a
process," he added.

Prof Saleh Hasan Naqib, however, said it must also be remembered that even
after entering the profession on the basis of merit, there may still be much
to learn in the subject you teach.

"Therefore, there is no scope to consider oneself an all-knowing scholar. In
the present time, this workshop is extremely necessary," he concluded.

A total of 57 teachers from 14 departments who were recently appointed are
participating in the training workshop.

It is worth mentioning that earlier, on October6, 2025, a similar training
workshop for 84 newly-appointed teachers from 17 departments was held under
the auspices of IQAC.
