MIST hosts Freshers' Reception for academic session 2025-26

DHAKA, June 16, 2026 (BSS) - The Military Institute of Science and Technology 
(MIST) today hosted its Freshers' Reception for the academic session 2025-26, 
welcoming 955 newly-admitted students, including 133 military students, to 
its 15 BSc engineering, science and architecture departments.

The reception ceremony was held on June 14 at Shaheed Yamin Auditorium in 
Mirpur Cantonment, said a release of the Inter Services Public Relations 
(ISPR) Directorate this afternoon.

Chairman of the University Grants Commission (UGC) of Bangladesh, Professor 
Dr Mamun Ahmed, attended the event as the chief guest.

Speaking on the occasion, he congratulated them on securing admission to MIST 
and urged them to pursue academic excellence through discipline, innovation 
and continuous learning, the release added.

He also stressed the importance of active participation in co-curricular 
activities, including robotics, cybersecurity, cultural and literary 
pursuits, debate and aeronautics, to develop leadership qualities and become 
well-rounded individuals.

The programme began with the national anthem, followed by a presentation and 
visual showcase highlighting the academic and administrative activities of 
the institute.
 
Current students shared their experiences and insights into campus life, 
while some newly-admitted students expressed their aspirations and enthusiasm 
for their academic journey at MIST. 

Several parents also voiced satisfaction with the institute's disciplined and 
supportive educational environment.

Commandant of MIST Maj Gen Md Hakimuzzaman along with deans, department 
heads, faculty members, staff, parents and students attended the ceremony.
