
DHAKA, June 16, 2026 (BSS) - A total of 113 more dengue patients were
admitted to hospitals across the country in the last 24 hours while one
person died from the mosquito-borne disease during the same period, according
to official data.
With the latest fatality, the death toll from dengue this year has risen to
seven, said the report issued today by the Health Emergency Operation Center
and Control Room of the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS).
According to the report, of the newly-hospitalised patients, 31 were admitted
in Khulna Division, 27 in Barishal Division, 18 in Chattogram Division, 16 in
Dhaka Division (outside the city corporations), 14 in Dhaka South City
Corporation (DSCC), two in Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC), three in
Sylhet Division, and two in Mymensingh Division.
During the same period, 90 dengue patients were discharged from different
hospitals across the country.
A total of 4,137 patients have recovered and been released from hospitals, so
far, this year.
Since January 1, 2026, the country has recorded 4,412 dengue cases. Of the
total infected patients, 63 percent are male and 37 percent female.
The DGHS report said seven people have died of dengue so far this year.
For comparison, Bangladesh recorded 102,861 dengue cases and 413 deaths from
the disease between January 1 and December 31, 2025.
In 2024, the country reported 101,214 dengue cases and 575 deaths from
dengue.
