DHAKA, Jan 27, 2025 (BSS) - The Dhaka University authorities today decided to separate the seven government colleges from their affiliation with the university.

After this decision, no new students will be admitted to Dhaka University under the affiliation for the 2024-25 academic session.

The decision was taken during an urgent meeting between DU Vice-Chancellor Professor Niaz Ahmed Khan and the principals of the seven affiliated colleges at the VIC’s office, according to a DU press release.

The previous decision regarding the admission process for students of the seven affiliated colleges was revised, advancing the timeline forward by one year, it said, adding that as a result, no students will be admitted to Dhaka University under the affiliated colleges from the 2024–25 academic session onwards.

The meeting recommended that the expert committee of the Ministry of Education that was formed on December 29, 2024 will decide on the number of seats and admission fees from the 2024–25 academic session.

The DU administration will remain fully responsible to ensure that the academic life is not disrupted for students who are currently enrolled under Dhaka University’s ongoing academic programmes.
