Three snatchers, drug peddlers held in city

DHAKA, March 22, 2025 (BSS) - Police have arrested three professional snatchers and drug peddlers with home-made weapons and drugs in the capital's West Nakhalpara area.

The arrested were identified as Md Azizur Rahman, 35, Md Raju, 28 and Md Rafikul Islam, said a media release of Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) today.

Acting on a tip-off, Tejgaon Police Station came to know that some professional snatchers and drug peddlers were staying under the elevated 
expressway beside the rail track in the West Nakhalpara.

A team of the police station conducted a raid in the area and nabbed the trio while they were trying to flee the spot riding a motorcycle.

The law enforcers also seized knives, sharp weapons, 238 pieces of yaba tablets, 1.300 kilograms of ganja, a motorcycle, Taka 17,000 in cash collected from drug sale and six mobile phone sets from their possession.
 
A case was filed against them with Tejgoan Police Station. 

Police said the arrested individuals are known drug dealers and professional snatchers in the West Nakhalpara and nearby areas. 

Azizur has seven cases related to drugs and robbery while Raju faces five and Rafiqul has one at Tejgaon Police Station.
