DHAKA, April 19, 2025 (BSS) - Detective Branch (DB) of the police in separate drives arrested six more members of Awami League (AL) and its front organizations from different parts of the capital. 

The arrested were identified as Abul Bashar Khan, vice president of Awami League's ward no. 12 unit; Ashraful Islam Naim, senior organizing secretary of BCL's ward no. 5 unit under Pallabi Thana; Md. Ripon Hossain Fahim, general secretary of BCL's Jatrabari Thana unit; Sheikh Md. Sohel, vice president of Sramik League's ward no. 59 unit under Dhaka South City Corporation; Md. Sohel Rana, relief and disaster affairs secretary of Swechchhasebak League's Badda Thana unit; and Mohammad Yamin, organizing secretary of BCL's ward no. 37 unit under Badda Thana.

Separate teams of the DB arrested Ashraful Islam Naim from the Baunia area of ??Pallabi Police Station, Md. Ripon Hossain Fahim from Jatrabari and Sheikh Md. Sohel from the Mohammadbag area under Kadamtali Police Station on April 18.

On the other hand, Md. Sohel Rana and Mohammad Yamin were arrested from the Madhya Badda area and Abul Bashar Khan from Shah Ali Thana area on April 19.

Legal proceedings are underway against the arrestees, said a DB press release.

Police earlier arrested six more BCL and AL men from the capital city.
