Swechasebak League leader Dr Sumit Saha sent to jail

DHAKA, April 19, 2025(BSS)-A court here today ordered to send Dr Sumit Saha, Science and Technology Affairs Secretary of Bangladesh Awami Swechasebak League to jail.

Police produced Dr Sumit Saha, also a physician of Bangladesh Medical University (BMU) before the court of Metropolitan Magistrate Zia Uddin Ahmed and filed a petition for his confinement in jail till end of the investigation of the case, filed against him. 

The court after hearing the petition, ordered to send him to jail.

Dr Sumit was arrested from the BMU area on Friday for his alleged involvement in vandalizing the university during the Anti-Discrimination Movement on August 4,  last year.

The university authority on January 14 this year filed a case with Shahbagh Police Station in this regard.
