13-kg Indian silver seized in Satkhira

SATKHIRA, April 19, 2025 (BSS) - Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) has seized 
about 13 kilograms (kgs) of Indian silver while it was being smuggled from 
the Indian border to Kalaroa upazila of the district.

Those silver was seized from the North Bhadiali border of Kalaroa upazila 
this morning, Commander of the 33rd Battalion of BGB in Satkhira Lieutenant 
Colonel Md. Ashraful Haque confirmed.

Based on secret information, a team of the BGB, led by Habildar Abul Kashem 
of Satkhira-33 BGB battalion conducted a raid on the North Bhadiali border.

After sensing the presence of the BGB men, the smugglers fled leaving a 
plastic bag, he added.

Later, the BGB team searched the bag and seized 12.975-kg of Indian silver. 

The market value of the seized silver is Taka 27.24 lakh, the Commander 
mentioned.

He said that the process of depositing the seized silver to the Satkhira 
Treasury Office along with taking further legal action in this regard is 
underway.
