Joint forces rescue abducted easybike driver from Ctg's Matarbari

CHATTOGRAM, April 19, 2025 (BSS) - The Bangladesh Navy-led joint forces in a 
drive rescued the abducted easybike driver Omar Farooq along with the 
hijacked vehicle from the area adjacent to the Darakhal Bridge under 
Matarbari in Cox's Bazar district in the early hours of today.

A release of the Directorate of Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) stated 
this saying based on the secret information the forces led by the Matarbari 
Navy Contingent rescued the victim around 12.30 am.

Earlier on April 18, 2025, two unidentified people boarded victim Omar 
Farooq's easybike from Kalarmarchara Bazar under Maheshkhali upazila at 
around 9 pm to go to Matarbari.

"Some 10/12 more unidentified people stopped the easybike and kidnapped its 
driver when the vehicle reached the Darakhal Bridge area. The abductors 
demanded a ransom of Taka 50,000 from Farooq's family," the release added. 

Being informed, a team of the Matarbari Navy Contingent rescued Omar Farooq 
along with his easybike from Darakhal Bridge area after conducting different 
drives at Natun Bazar, Natun Bridge, power plant, salt field and more 
adjoining areas of Darakhal Bridge. 

The members of Bangladesh police also participated in the operation, ISPR 
added.
