DHAKA, April 19, 2025 (BSS) – Jatiyatabadi Chhatra Dal (JCD) today held a human chain protesting the withdrawal of expelling eight students from private Shaheed Monsur Ali Medical College in capital’s Uttara area allegedly for removing the picture of Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and observing the BNP’s  31-point charter to reform the country.

The JCD led by its senior joint general secretary Shyamol Malum also submitted a memorandum to the principal of the medical college after holding the demonstration.

A group of the student-people removed the portrait of Sheikh Mujibur Rahman from the college on November 19. (Late Awami League leader) Mohammad Nasim’s family and the college authority repressed the general students and filed false cases against them following the removal of the picture.  They later expelled eight of the students for six months.

Speaking on the occasion, JCD leader Shyamol Malum said, “The Jatiyatabadi Chhatra Dal has demanded immediate withdrawal of the order of expelling eight students.”

He has threatened to go for tougher movement if the college authority fails to take appropriate decision to this end by 12pm tomorrow.

Malum said that the JCD is committed to bring back the congenial atmosphere for education in the campus.

JCD central vice-presidents Rehena Akhter Shirin and Rezanul Haque Sabuj, joint general secretary Tarikul Islam Tarik, Gazi Mohammad Saddam Hossain, Nuruzzaman Chandan, Dhaka North JC President Salahuddin Ahmed, General Secretary Mahfuzur Rahman Lipkon, private medical and dental college JCD president Raqibul Islam Akash and acting general secretary Tanjim Rubayet, among others, were present.
