DHAKA, April 19, 2025 (BSS) - BNP Standing Committee member Nazrul Islam Khan today said there is no need to protest against the interim government to achieve the demand for national elections.
"We believe that the government will definitely play a role in restoring democracy. It will reflect the aspirations of the people," he told reporters after a meeting with the 12-party alliance at the BNP Chairperson’s office in Gulshan here.
The meeting discussed the recent meeting with the interim government head Dr. Muhammad Yunus in view of the upcoming national elections.
Regarding the discussion at the meeting of the liaison committee with the 12-party alliance, this senior BNP leader said, "Today we sat in discussion with the top leaders of the 12-party alliance. We exchanged views with them on various issues.
We also discussed the content of the discussion that BNP had with the chief advisor a few days ago. Because, as political allies, they have the right to know. It is also our responsibility to inform them about everything".
He said, in the meeting, BNP discussed with the 12-party alliance about the upcoming elections, the removal of fascist cohorts from various sectors of the administration, and their speedy trial. The 12-party alliance and BNP have agreed on several issues, including the national elections in December, he added.
Meanwhile, the leader of the 12-party alliance, Mustafa Zaman Haider, has announced the election roadmap and demanded that elections in December.
Among the 12-party alliance partners present at the meeting were Jatiya Party Chairman Mustafa Zaman Haider, Bangladesh LDP Chairman Shahadat Hossain Selim, Bangladesh National Party Chairman Syed Ehsanul Huda and others.
