Jubo League leader held over murder charge during July uprising

DHAKA, April 20, 2025 (BSS) - Police arrested a Jubo League leader on charges of killing of two individuals after attacking the student-people uprising rally in July last from the city's Kadamtali area.

The arrestee was identified as Md. Rajan (29), Jubo League President of Unit No. 1 of Ward No. 52 of Kadamtali Police Station.

 Police arrested Rajan after conducting a raid at Haji Lal Mia Sardar Road area under Kadamtali Police Station around 10:30 pm on Saturday, said a police press release here.

Rajan was directly involved in attacks on the protesting student-people at Kadamtali, Jatrabari and Shyampur Police Station areas during the anti-discrimination student movement, it said. 

Rajan has three cases against him including two murder cases in connection with the attack on the anti-discrimination student movement and 12 cases of extortion, robbery and drugs, it added. 

Legal action is underway against Rajan.
