Former RAJUK employee jailed for 7yrs over graft

DHAKA, April 20, 2025 (BSS) - A Dhaka court has sentenced Md. Delwar Sikder, a retired employee (MLSS) of the RAJUK, to seven years of imprisonment in a corruption case. 

Judge Md. Rabiul Alam of Dhaka Special Judge Court-4 announced the verdict also ordering to confiscate the undeclared and illegally acquired income of the accused amounting to Taka 52,96,250 and issued an arrest warrant, as the convict remains absconding.

Delwar was convicted under two sections of the Anti Corruption Commission Act, 2004, receiving two years' imprisonment under Section 26(2) and five years under Section 27(1), to run concurrently. 

According to case details, ACC filed the case against Delwar on May 7, 2019 with Ramna Police Station, on charges of amassing wealth beyond known sources of income.

Following investigation, a charge sheet was submitted on August 22, 2023, and trial proceedings began on September 10, 2024.
