Court orders to freeze bank accounts, hospital shares of Dr Enam

DHAKA, April 21, 2025 (BSS) - A court here today ordered to freeze seven bank accounts of former state minister for Relief and Disaster Management Dr Md Enamur Rahman.

The court also instructed the concerned authorities to seize his two cars and freeze 3,59,500 shares of Enam Medical Hospital Private Limited, 10,000 shares of  Enam Education and Industrial Village (Pri) Limited and 10,000 shares of Enam Cancer Hospital Limited.

The Senior Special Judge of Dhaka Metropolitan Sessions Court Md Zakir Hossain Galib passed these orders following a petition submitted by the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) in this regard.

Deputy Director (DD) of the Public Relations Department of the ACC Aktarul Islam disclosed the information to the journalists.

The ACC in its petition told the court that accused Enamur Rahman, as a former state minister and parliament member and also a public servant has acquired moveable and immoveable assets and properties worth about Taka 6,50,92,725 by misusing power and criminal misconduct that is contrary to his known source of income. Besides, he made suspicious transactions of Taka 12,69,57,000 through his five bank accounts and was involved in money laundering during the time.

The ACC has already filed a case against Dr Enam as he tried to hand over, transfer and convert his illegal money, assets and properties for hiding it. An Investigation Officer (IO) from the commission has already been appointed to probe the allegations, the petition said adding that the investigation will be hampered seriously if the money and properties are being transferred, handed over or converted to others.
