KHULNA, April 21, 2025 (BSS) - Police arrested 39 leaders and activists of the Awami League (AL) and its affiliated bodies from different parts of the city.

A team of police conducted raids in various areas from Sunday night to Monday afternoon and detained them, said Md Ahsan Habib, additional deputy commissioner (media) of Khulna Metropolitan Police (KMP), today.

On Sunday afternoon, AL activists brought out processions at several points in the city, including Zero Point, Mohila College Road in Boyra, and the Daulatpur area.

Meanwhile, police filed cases against 300 leaders and activists of the AL and its front organizations at three police stations in the city last night.

Leaders of the National Citizens' Party (NCP) in Khulna on Sunday protested the administration's silence regarding the sudden processions brought out by AL supporters at various spots in the city.

They demanded the arrest of the participants within the next 24 hours, warning that otherwise, they would take tougher actions.

The demand was made at a press conference held at the Khulna Press Club.
