Drug peddler held with 6.5 Kg heroin in Rajshahi

RAJSHAHI, April 22, 2025 (BSS) - A team of the Department of Narcotics Control (DNC) arrested an alleged notorious drug peddler with 6.5 kilograms of heroin from his locality under Godagari Upazila in the district today.

The arrestee was identified as Tareque Hossain, 36, son of Rafiqul Islam of Maderpur village under the same upazila.

On a tip-off, a team of Intelligence Branch of DNC conducted a sudden raid at Tareque's cattle farm at Veemdanga Madarpur area around 10am and arrested him. 

Following his confession during initial questioning, the team recovered huge quantity of heroin hidden on the farm premises.

Deputy Director of the branch Zillur Rahman told BSS that the arrested person has long been operating his drug business in disguise of cattle fattening and dairy farming.

He said a case has been lodged with Godagari Police Station in this connection.
