JASHORE, April 22, 2025 (BSS) - Home Adviser Md Jahangir Alam Chowdhury has directed police personnel not to arrest anyone while in plainclothes.

"You must be in uniform or wearing a police vest while making arrests," he told officers during a view-exchange meeting at the Jashore deputy commissioner's conference room.

Addressing the drug issue, the adviser said the government will not establish drug rehabilitation centers in divisional headquarters of the Narcotics Control Department.

Instead, he asked law enforcers to focus on preventing drug entry at the borders and dismantling distribution networks nationwide.

We're prioritizing stopping the inflow of drugs into Bangladesh over building rehab centers, he said.

Jahangir also noted a decline in corruption related to police recruitment and transfers.

"No superintendent of police can claim I've ever made a personal request. If anyone approaches police officers claiming to be my relative, offer them tea the first day and arrest them the next," he added.

Civil, military, and police officials attended the meeting.
