3 more AL leaders arrested in city

DHAKA, April 23, 2025 (BSS) - The Detective Branch (DB) of police in separate raids has arrested three leaders of Awami League (AL) and its affiliated organizations from different parts of the capital city for their alleged involvement in destabilizing the country. 

The arrestee have been identified as Abdul Matin Master, 52, member secretary of Dhaka City South Krishak League, Mostaq Fakir alias Bagha, 38, vice-president of Ward No. 71 of Jubo League, and Haji Alauddin, vice-president of Keraniganj Model Thana AL.

Separate quads of the DB arrested the trio after conducting raids at Matuail, Wari and Chawkbazar areas on Tuesday and Wednesday, police said. 

The arrested persons are accused of creating an unstable situation by holding sudden processions at different parts of the capital, police said.

Legal action was underway to this end.

With the latest arrest, a total of 44 leaders and activists of AL and its affiliated bodies were arrested in the last five days.
