Two, including prime accused in Parvez murder case arrested

DHAKA, April 23, 2025 (BSS) – Two youths, including the prime accused in the Primeasia University student Zahidul Islam Parvez murder case were arrested from Gaibandha Sadar and Chattogram on Tuesday and Wednesday.
   
The arrestees were identified as Mehraj, 20 and Mahathir Hasan, 20, number one and three accused in the Parvez murder case respectively. 

A RAB media officer told BSS that they arrested Mehraj from Sadar Upazila in Gaibandha district around 4.30pm today.    

On the other hand, police arrested another accused Mahathir on Tuesday (22 April) night from a house at Azad Tower in Halishahar of Chattogram.

With these two arrests, a total of six accused in the Parvez murder case were arrested from the capital city, Cumilla, Gaibandha district and Chattogram.

Joint efforts of the law enforcement agencies are on to capture the remaining accused in the murder case.
 
Earlier on April 19, Zahidul Islam Parvez, a third-year student of the Textile Engineering Department at Primeasia University and his friend Md Tariqul Islam were attacked with country-made weapons by a group of individuals on the road in front of the university.

Later, Parvez, who sustained critical injuries, was rushed to Kurmitola General Hospital where on-duty doctor declared him dead.

On April 20, Parvez's cousin Humayun Kabir filed the case with Banani Police Station, naming eight individuals and accusing 25-30 people in total, of involvement in the crime.
 
A court here today placed one Hridoy Miaji, 23, on a seven-day remand in the murder case hours after his arrest from Cumilla district.
 
RAB-11 personnel arrested Hridoy Miaji from Monairkandi village under Titas upazila in Cumilla district on April 21.

The same court on April 21 placed three people, Md Al Kamal Sheikh alias Kamal, Alvi Hossain Junaid and Al Amin Sunny on a seven-day remand each in the murder case.

They were arrested from different parts of the capital on April 20.
