Court freezes 38 bank accounts of Tawfika Aftab

DHAKA, April 23, 2025 (BSS) - A court here today ordered to freeze 38 bank accounts of Towfika Aftab alias Towfika Karim, the trustworthy of former Law Minister Anisul Haque.

Dhaka Metropolitan Senior Special Judge Md Zakir Hossain Galib passed the order, allowing a plea of the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC).

Confirming the matter to newsmen, ACC Deputy Director (public relations) Aktarul Islam said an inquiry team has been formed to investigate allegations of fraudulent acquisition of wealth beyond known income by corruption against Towfika Aftab alias Towfika Karim. 

She is attempting to transfer or withdraw unethical money from bank account, he added. 

For this reason, he said, it is necessary to freeze 38 bank accounts in her name.
