CHATTOGRAM, April 23, 2025 (BSS) - A Chattogram court today sentenced life-term imprisonment to a man for raping a six-year-old child at Adarshagram of Bhujpur thana under Fatikchari upazila of the district in 2023.

The Judge of Women and Child Repression Prevention Tribunal-7 Begum Ferdouse Ara passed the verdict convicting Khokan Uddin, a resident of the aforesaid area.

The court also fined him Tk one lakh, in default; he will have to suffer one year more imprisonment.

According to the prosecution, the convict violated his cousin, a six-year old child on May 9, 2023. Later, victim's father filed a rape case against Khokan with Bhujpur Thana on May 10, 2023.

Police submitted the charge sheet before the court on November 17 against Khokan, while the court framed charges on January 4 in 2024.

The court delivered the verdict after examining 7 out of 11 prosecution witnesses.
