Court order freezing 56 bank accounts of ex Maj Gen Shafeenul, his family

DHAKA, April 23, 2025 (BSS) - A court here has ordered to freeze 56 bank
accounts belong to Major General (Retd) M Shafeenul Islam, his wife Soma
Islam and son Samin Islam.

The court of Dhaka Metropolitan Senior Special Judge Md Zakir Hossain Galib passed the
order today following an application by the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC).

Mohammad Akhtarul Islam, ACC's deputy director and public relations officer,
gave this information.

The application stated that the complaint against the trio is under
investigation for alleged abuse of power, financial irregularities and
amassing wealth beyond known sources of income.

The accused Shafeenul, his wife Soma and son Samin have bank accounts,
savings certificates, FDRs, DPSs, locker credit cards.

They are reportedly trying to siphon off and transfer money from their bank
accounts.

Therefore, it is necessary to freeze 56 bank accounts in their names.
