DHAKA, April 23, 2025 (BSS) - Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) Standing Committee member Amir Khasru Mahmud Chowdhury today dismissed claims that BNP is unwilling to support reforms, saying such accusations are deliberate attempts to create confusion and muddy the waters.

“A certain group is deliberately trying to muddy the waters by claiming that BNP does not want reform. All political parties including BNP have already presented their views on reform,” he told reporters after a liaison meeting with the National Democratic Movement (NDM) at the BNP Chairperson’s political office in Gulshan.

Amir Khasru said, “The government must make it public where consensus has been achieved. Otherwise, the confusion will persist—some say we want reform, others say we don’t. This ambiguity needs to be resolved.”

The liaison meeting with NDM began at 4 PM, followed by a separate meeting between the BNP and Gono Forum.

Amir Khasru stressed the need for a final reform report to be submitted within a month, allowing all parties to sign the July Charter thereafter. “If there's genuine intention to hold elections after reform, then the roadmap should be cleared by December,” he said, adding that the continued lack of clarity is fuelling doubt and suspicion among the public.

The BNP has consistently argued that genuine reform and credible elections are key to restoring democratic governance in Bangladesh, he added.
