SYLHET, April 26, 2025 (BSS) - Members of Bangladesh Army and Border Guard
Bangladesh (BGB) in separate drives arrested two persons with huge smuggled
goods worth Taka 7.5 crore from the border areas of Gowainghat upazila of the
district last night.

A team of the BGB-48 Sylhet Battalion led by Major Md. Nurul Huda, deputy
commander of the Battalion, conducted a drive in the border areas of the
district and seized different types of smuggled goods worth Taka six crore, a
BGB press release said here today.

The seized goods are Indian lehenga, skin care cream, skin bright cream, roop
g cream, Gillette blade, sugar, Fiama soap, Pond's bright beauty face wash,
KitKat chocolate, fuchka, shutki and betel leaf.

A truck and a pickup used to transport the smuggled goods were also seized
during the drives.

A patrol team of the Infantry Regiment 27 Bir Unit of the Haripur Gasfield
Army Camp in Sylhet conducted a raid in Lama Fatehpur and Lafnaut villages of
Alirgaon union at around 8 pm and seized Indian cosmetics, Gillette blades
and lehengas worth over Taka 1.40 crore.

The army team arrested two people involved in the matter.

The arrested are Hanif Ahmed, son of Abdul Latib of Lama Fatehpur village in
Gowainghat upazila and Juman Ahmed, son of Ahmed Ali of Narayanpur village of
the upazila.

The seized goods include 213 pieces of screen sign cream, 280 pieces of skin
bright cream, 160 pieces of Clop G cream, five cartons of Gillette blades and
439 pieces of Indian lehengas.

The arrested people along with the seized goods have been handed over to the
Sylhet BGB Battalion (48 BGB).

Battalion Commander of the BGB-48 Lieutenant Colonel Md. Nazmul Haque said
the operation will continue along with increasing intelligence activities.
