CHATTOGRAM, April 26, 2025 (BSS)- Leading lawyers here today have demanded to set up a full-fledged bench of High Court or a Circuit Bench in Chattogram in line with the spirit of Article-100 of the Bangladesh Constitution.

High Court Bench Implementation Council, Chattogram (HCBIC,C) raised the demand at a meeting of views exchange with journalists at Chattogram Press Club (CPC).

It will be a historic and time-befitting step to ensure peoples’ access to justice in Chattogram region apart from lessening the financial burden of the litigants, they said.

Lawyers appreciated the Law Reform Commission’s report to constitute HC benches outside the capital saying such an initiative will contribute largely to establish rule of law in the country.

The lawyers drew attention of the President, Chief Adviser, Law Adviser, Chief Justice, Attorney General and Bangladesh Bar Council to take prompt initiative in this regard saying in no way it will contradict with or debilitate the fundamental character of the country’s constitution.
