AL leader arrested in Tangail

TANGAIL, April 27, 2025 (BSS) - Police arrested an Awami League (AL) leader from Mirzapur Bazar of the district today.

The arrestee was identified as Harun-Ur-Rashid, president of Paurasava Awami League and son of late Zamal Khan of Postkampuri village of the Paurasava.

Officer in Charge of Mirzapur police station Md. Mosharof Hossen confirmed the matter.

When students and common people under the banner of the Anti-Discrimination Student Movement were staging a demonstration on August 4, 2024, a group of miscreants carried out an attack on the Gorai Highway police station in which Himel, a teenager, lost his eyesight.

Nasima Begum, mother of Himel, filed a case.

As Harun's involvement in the attack was found during the investigation, police arrested him, the OC said.
