Waterlogging at KU to be solved: KCC Administrator

KHULNA, April 27, 2025 (BSS) - Administrator of Khulna City Corporation (KCC) and Khulna Divisional Commissioner Md Firoz Sarkar today stressed the need for sufficient residential halls for students and resolving waterlogging on the campus of Khulna University during heavy rains.

He said effective measures, including land acquisition, would be undertaken if necessary to resolve the existing problems at the university, mentioning that the university has been maintaining its reputation for academic excellence since its inception.

The KCC administrator made these remarks while addressing a seminar titled "How We Want to See Khulna University", organised by Khulna Civil Society at the KCC conference room.

Sarkar noted that the university's prestige was not built merely through grand infrastructures but through the invaluable contributions of its students who, after completing their education, have been serving the nation with dignity.

Professor Dr Md Nazmus Sadas, Director of Student Affairs at Khulna University, and Additional Deputy Commissioner (Education and ICT) of Khulna Nurul Hai Mohammad Anas addressed the seminar as special guests.

Professor Dr Md Ashiqur Rahman, Director of the International Cell of Khulna University, presented the keynote paper at the event. Ehteshamul Haque Shawon, Assistant Secretary General of the Bangladesh Federal Union of Journalists (BFUJ), delivered the welcome speech.

S M Shahnawaz Ali, President of Khulna Civil Society, presided over the event.

Mahendranath Sen, Member Secretary of Khulna Civil Society, presented a concept paper about the university while Sheikh Didarul Alam, UNB's Khulna Correspondent, conducted the event.
