NARAYANGANJ, April 27, 2025 (BSS) - A human chain with the participation of the lawers and relatives of the deceased was held today in the local judge court area here demanding immediate execution of the judgment of the sensational seven-murder case of the district.

While addressing the human chain, Selena Islam Beauty, wife of the late panel mayor of Narayangaj City Corporation (NCC) Nazrul Islam, expressed her dismay over the delay of the execution of the verdict of such a sensational murder cases.

“We lost the important persons of the seven families and they will not come back again but we would be satisfied to see that the killers have been punished,” she added.

Advocate Sakhawat Hossain Khan, lawyer of the seven-murder case, said that the seven-murder is a disgraceful chapter of Narayanganj as then there was a reign of godfathers.

The godfather Shamim Osman and his associate Nur Hossain kidnapped seven people in broad daylight by hiring a specialized force, he said, adding that their bodies were thrown in Shitalakhha river after killing them.

The bodies were dumped in the river with 24 bricks for each body and the people of the whole country cried to see the barbaric incident and demanded exemplary punishment, he said, adding that the trial has been delayed as the killers and their perpetrators were sheltered by the past Awami League government.

The District and Sessions Judge Court awarded exemplary punishment, including hanging and life-term imprisonment to 35 accused and the High Court also upheld the judgment. The issue is pending with the Appellate Division for seven to eight years for final disposal, Advocate Sakhawat added.

The victims, including the panel mayor of NCC Nazrul Islam and his lawyer Chandon Sarkar, were kidnapped from near Khan Saheb Osman Ali Stadium by RAB on April 27 in 2004 while they were returning from Narayanganj court. The bodies of the kidnapped victims were later recovered from Shitalakhha River on April 30 and May 1.
