Tureen, 3 others shown arrested in fresh uprising cases

DHAKA, April 28, 2025 (BSS) - A court here today showed four people including former prosecutor of the International Crimes Tribunal (ICT) Barrister Tureen Afroz and former general secretary of Dhaka South City Awami League Shahe Alam Murad arrested in separate cases filed over crimes committed in July-August mass uprising.

The other two arrestees are former deputy inspector general (DIG) of police Mollah Nazrul Islam and additional DIG Md Moshiur Rahman.

Of the four, Barrister Tureen Afroz was shown arrested in a murder case filed with the city's Mirpur Model Police Station while Murad was shown arrested in a Dhanmandi Police Station case. 

The two former senior cops were shown arrested in a separate case filed with the Dhanmandi Police Station.

Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate M A Azharul Islam passed the orders as police produced the four before the court and pleaded to show them arrested in the cases.

Earlier, Md Moshiur Rahman was arrested on September 19, 2024, while Mollah Nazrul Islam was detained on February 8, 2025. Barrister Tureen Afroz was arrested from her Uttara resident on April 7 and Shahe Alam Murad was arrested from Uttara area on April 17.
